What is included?

  • Heavy duty Polyvinyl Chloride coated steel wire, commonly known as PVC coated wire.

What is it made from?

  • Wire is galvanised for durability and coated in PVC to provide superior UV protection and greater resistance to corrosion (especially in the humid Queensland weather!).

How does it work?

  • In chainwire fence installation, wire is rolled out between intermediate posts to help support and tension the chainwire between all posts, especially if no top or bottom rail is installed. Wire can also be used in rural fencing to contain cattle, sheep and other livestock.
  • Tie Wire: Also known as lacing wire, tie wire is used to lace the chainwire to the steel posts or plain or helicoil support cables. Fencescape sells 1.6mm diameter tie wire in 285m or 500m rolls.
  • Plain Wire: PVC coated plain wire, also known as cable wire, is available 3.15mm diameter and comes in 375m rolls.
  • Helicoil: Helicoil wire is strained taut and runs between all posts to help support and tension the chainwire. It’s common to install three horizontal rows of helicoil, one at the top of the fence, one at the bottom of the fence and one in the middle. The helicoil wire is 4.00mm in diameter and comes in 250m rolls.

Is it easy to install?

Chainwire fencing requires a bit of know-how and practice. It is of course possible to do-it-yourself however if you’re just starting out, we recommend looking at our aluminium fencing rangealuminium fencing range which is more straightforward and simple to install.

Do you have other colours available?

we have standard galvanised wire rolls available too.
Our chain wire fencing supplies also come in non-PVC coated galvanised steel. Dark green PVC coated wire is also an option, please get in contact if you would like to order this (or any other custom wire roll) and we’ll do our best to get them in for you!

What is PVC coated wire used for?

PVC coated wire is commonly used in fencing applications to secure mesh, netting and chainwire to posts, rails and tension wires. The PVC coating protects the steel core from corrosion and weathering, making it ideal for outdoor use in garden fencing, boundary fences, animal enclosures and perimeter fencing.

Can PVC coated wire be used with chainwire mesh?

Yes, PVC coated wire is suitable for use with chainwire mesh and is often used to tie or secure the mesh to fence posts, rails and tension wires. The coating helps reduce corrosion and provides a neat finish that blends well with PVC-coated or black chainwire fencing systems.
